About the Therapist & Licensure

Laura Lyn Zane, M.A., LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida (License #MH1094)

I provide online therapy via secure telehealth to clients who are physically located in Florida, in accordance with Florida licensure laws.

Laura Zane, a highly sensitive, neurodivergent, online Florida therapist with curly hair holding a merle-coated corgi puppy with blue eyes in front of a green leafy background.

Who I Help

I help highly sensitive and neurodivergent adult women—including those who are ADHD, autistic, gifted, or dyslexic—who are experiencing burnout, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and identity confusion after years of masking, overfunctioning, and adapting to systems that were not designed for their nervous system.

Many of the women I do individual therapy with also identify as empathic or intuitive and experience the world with deep emotional, sensory, and relational awareness.

This Therapy Is a Good Fit If You…

This work may be a strong fit if you:

  • Feel chronically overwhelmed despite being capable, insightful, and intelligent

  • Experience emotional or sensory intensity that others may not notice or understand

  • Have spent years masking, people-pleasing, or overfunctioning at work or in relationships

  • Are navigating burnout, anxiety, boundary challenges, or relationship strain

  • Have tried therapy before and are now seeking deeper, relational, insight-oriented work

  • Identify as neurodivergent, highly sensitive, empathic, or intuitive and want these experiences understood rather than minimized or pathologized

Hold spiritual, non-religious, or “woo-adjacent” belief systems (such as intuitive, mystical, or energetic worldviews) and want a therapist who can respect these perspectives without dismissing them or turning therapy into spiritual instruction

  • Therapy focuses on emotional regulation, nervous-system support, identity integration, and psychological wellbeing — not spiritual teaching, religious guidance, or belief endorsement.

When This Is Not the Right Fit

I may not be the right fit if you are:

  • Seeking formal testing or diagnostic evaluations for ADHD or autism

  • Looking for highly structured, manualized, or skills-only therapy

  • Wanting brief or solution-focused therapy without depth or relational work

  • In need of crisis intervention, inpatient-level care, or immediate stabilization

  • Seeking spiritual direction, religious counseling, or faith-based treatment

  • You are seeking relationship, couples or family counseling

  • Outside the State of Florida, due to licensure restrictions

My Approach to Therapy

My work is relational, insight-oriented, and nervous-system informed. I integrate evidence-based therapy approaches with attention to emotional regulation, identity development, and long-standing patterns of adaptation.

For clients who identify as empathic or intuitive, therapy often focuses on:

  • Understanding emotional and sensory sensitivity through a grounded, clinical lens

  • Strengthening boundaries and self-trust

  • Reducing exhaustion from emotional over-absorption

  • Learning when to engage deeply and when to protect personal energy

I also offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) when clinically appropriate. ART may be used as a focused intervention within a broader therapeutic process. Session count and outcomes vary and are not guaranteed.

Why Other Therapists Refer to Me

Other therapists, coaches, and healthcare providers often refer clients to me when someone:

Is highly sensitive or neurodivergent and feels misunderstood in more structured or skills-based therapy

  • Has done “standard” therapy before but continues to struggle with burnout, masking, emotional intensity, or identity confusion

  • Appears outwardly high-functioning while internally experiencing chronic anxiety, exhaustion, or overwhelm

  • Identifies as empathic or intuitive and wants those experiences respected and grounded clinically, not dismissed or pathologized

  • Needs a relational, nervous-system-aware therapist rather than brief or manualized treatment

I am often a good referral fit for clients who need depth, attunement, and nervous-system awareness, especially when sensitivity and neurodivergence are central to their experience.

Looking for Support With Something Specific?

If you’re exploring therapy for a particular concern, these pages provide more detail while aligning with the same approach and boundaries described above

These pages offer additional detail, but this page reflects the overall scope, fit, and boundaries of my practice.

 In Plain Language

In simple terms, I help highly sensitive and neurodivergent adult women who feel overwhelmed and burned out understand their nervous system, reduce anxiety, strengthen boundaries, and build a life that fits how their brain actually works.
